Sea Scallops Straight From The Boat
Silky texture paired with a sweet, briny taste so delicate, just thinking about it makes your mouth water. That’s what you can expect from ShopLobster’s Stonington sea scallops. Our fishermen shuck the scallops immediately after they catch them. Then they’re vacuum packed and quickly frozen to seal in the amazing Penobscot Bay flavor.
Scallop season in Maine runs from December through March. Orders placed during this time are guaranteed to be fresh. While all of our scallops are frozen, even in season, the good news is that they retain their exceptional flavor after freezing.
Each bag contains 1 lb, approximately 20 scallops (about 4 servings).
Thaw in refrigerator overnight. Do not re-freeze.
We recommend removing the side muscle from each scallop before cooking to maximize consistent texture. How do I do this?
Did you know: Scallops swim by opening and closing their shells using their powerful adductor muscle. This muscle is the round, fleshy “scallop” that anyone who eats seafood will instantly recognize. The Atlantic sea scallop’s adductor muscle may be as big as 2 inches in diameter.
